From the Riederalp West mountain station, hike up to Riederfurka. Once there, follow the path through Teiffe Forest to Grünsee. Then hike eastwards to Silbersand – the destination of the hike, from where you have a magnificent view of the Great Aletsch Glacier. On the way back, hike along the Lower Aletsch Trail through the protected Aletsch Forest, with larches over 900 years old, back up to Riederfurka. Here, a visit to the Pro Natura Center in the impressive Villa Cassel is recommended before you tackle the last leg – the descent to Riederalp.
