The starting point for the snowshoe hike is the old valley station of the Fiesch-Eggishorn cable car. From here you walk along the Bregera trail to the junction towards Bellwald. After crossing the snowy forest, you reach Gibelegga. From here you walk to the St. Anna chapel near the old Valais hamlets “Z'Mettje” and “Ze Fälle”. The route then continues over open terrain to Bellwald, one of the oldest and best-preserved mountain villages in the Valais. From here you have a beautiful view of the Goms and the village of Fiesch. With the Fürgangen cable car you return to the valley and continue by train to Fiesch.

Use of the winter hiking trails and information on this website is at your own risk. Local conditions may cause changes to the route.
- Carry a map with you. Download the complete description of the hiking trail along with a large-scale map by clicking on “Print” at the top right of the page.
- Use only marked hiking trails and follow all signposts and instructions – for your own safety, to protect domestic animals and without disturbing wildlife.
- Be considerate towards other trail users and the landscape. Take your rubbish and the rubbish of others with you.
- Carry additional sun protection. UV rays at high altitudes can be very strong, especially in winter, even in overcast weather.
- Plan your hike carefully: take into account the required fitness of all participants, weather forecasts and seasonal conditions.
- Weather conditions can change very quickly and without warning in the mountains. Appropriate clothing and sufficient provisions (food and drink) are very important. When the weather is unstable, it is better to turn back early.
- Do not venture onto glaciers without a mountain guide.
- Observe warning signals indicating dangers, especially avalanche risk.
- Inform third parties about your route and if possible never go alone.
- Note(s)
Due to altitude and route guidance, good footwear is absolutely necessary for this winter hike.
The snowshoe trails can be used without a guide. Note: They are not tracked, not prepared and not checked daily. They are also not protected from natural hazards such as avalanches or rockfalls. For a safe snowshoeing experience, observe the weather forecasts and the current avalanche bulletin. Using the trails is at your own risk!
