Ski for free

Ski for free with «Schgi fer frii»

Children under 16 can hit the slopes for free on Saturdays with “Schgi fer frii” (Ski for free). However, older teens (16 to 20 years) will still enjoy a 15–20% discount on the adult rates. And, as before, the third child skis for free.

Up to your 16th birthday, you can take advantage of the “Schgii fer frii” offer in the vast ski area of the Aletsch Arena throughout the winter season and get a free one-day ski pass every Saturday. What’s more, the SBB Snow’n’Rail offer means that you, your parents or any accompanying adults can get a 20% discount on the price of public transport from any station in Switzerland. Travel sustainably and come by train. Take advantage of the Snow'n'Rail Combi offer or the RailAway Hit in January and March.

Offer only available with SwissPass

Would you like to indulge your love of skiing and explore the Aletsch Arena at the same time, or simply have a good time with family and friends? Then grab yourself a free ski pass and simply load it onto your SwissPass card.

«Ski for free» can only be booked online with a physical SwissPass
The free, one-day ski pass is only available online from the webshop. The «Ski for free» ticket must be loaded onto a physical SwissPass before the day you plan to ski. Presenting confirmation of purchase on your mobile phone will not be accepted.

Combination of «Ski for free» with multi-day passes also available at the resort
Children and young people under the age of 16 also ski for free on Saturdays when you buy a multi-day ski pass. The “Schgi fer frii” discount is automatically deducted when purchasing this ski pass. So don’t forget to book the Saturday too! The multi-day ski passes are available online and at Aletsch Bahnen ticket counters. They can be loaded onto a physical SwissPass or a Keycard.

Good to know

SwissPass: If you don’t have a SwissPass card yet, you can apply for your personal SwissPass online or at public transport ticket counters free of charge. Plan this in good time as it can take several weeks for the SwissPass card to be sent out. When requesting a SwissPass, please present a valid ID card (or similar official document) and provide a current passport photo.

How come everyone under 16 can ski for free in the Aletsch Arena every Saturday?
«Ski for free» is a winter sports promotion by Aletsch Bahnen. The aim is to get children and young people excited about skiing or snowboarding.

How can I combine ‘Schgi fer frii’ with a ski course as a beginner?
The free two-hour taster courses run by the Aletsch Arena ski and snowboard schools offer beginners a chance to learn some basic skills. A full range of rental equipment is available for free too, if needed. The winter 2025/26 courses will be held on the following dates:

  • Taster ski course in Bettmeralp, on 13.12.2025

  • Taster ski course in Riederalp, on 10.01.2026

  • Taster ski course in Fiescheralp, on 17.01.2026

Travel
The «Ski for free» offer is extremely popular. To avoid queues, we recommend travelling to the Aletsch Arena via Fiesch-Fiescheralp.
