From Riederalp Mitte, you hike through Riederalp up to Riederfurka. A short steep ascent of 165 meters of elevation brings you to Riederhorn. Some sections of the path are somewhat exposed. From Riederhorn, you are rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Great Aletsch Glacier and many four-thousand-meter peaks of the Valais and Bernese Alps. Descent along the themed Casselweg path and hike back to Riederfurka to Villa Cassel. At the beginning of the 20th century, the imposing Villa Cassel on Riederfurka was the fashionable summer residence of the English banker and his exclusive guests from nobility and high finance. The descent back to Riederalp Mitte is the final stage of this hike.

The exhibition and alpine garden of the nature conservation center (Pro Nature Center Aletsch) in Villa Cassel on Riederfurka are worth seeing! Make sure to plan a visit!
Via cantonal road 19 to the Mörel-Filet exit, then on to the signposted parking spaces. Take the Riederalp cable car (Aletsch Bahnen AG) up to Riederalp.
- Limited number of paid parking spaces at Mörel-Filet train station. Further parking options are signposted.
- Large paid parking garages at the entrance to Mörel-Filet as well as in the village center.
By train from Brig or Oberwald to Mörel-Filet, then on foot to the Riederalp cable car (Aletsch Bahnen AG). Take this up to Riederalp (Riederalp Mitte).
