Riederalp - Great Aletsch Glacier - Riederalp
The UNESCO Aletsch Glacier hike sets off from Riederalp, taking in the Aletsch Glacier before returning to Riederalp. After riding the cable car up to Moosfluh, you’ll head off to the Aletsch Glacier on this guided tour. This is where the glacier experience begins with the descent to the Katzenlöcher rock formations. On this two-hour roped hike around the World Natural Heritage Site you’ll explore the 20km-long Aletsch Glacier and gain a fascinating insight into its history. After enjoying this Valais glacier experience, you’ll return to Riederalp via Moosfluh – either by cable car or on foot.
Please note the Riederalp-Moosfluh cable car is not included in the price.
Dates: every Wednesday from beginning of July until beginning of October, additionaly every Tuesday and Thursday from mid-July until mid-August
Duration: total approximate walking time 6 hours (approx. 2-hour tour on the Aletsch Glacier)

Suitable for: minimal age 8 years
Requirements: sure-footedness, no mountaineering experience required
Equipment: hiking or trekking shoes (good grip), rain gear, long trousers for the glacier, hat, jacket, sunscreen, sunglasses, gloves, packed lunch and drinks. Eventually walking sticks. Technical equipment such as crampons will be provided free of charge.
