Important tip: We recommend riding the trail section from Bettmerhorn to Biel – where you then turn left towards Bettmeralp – early in the morning or later in the afternoon. Reason: the section of the ridge hike between Moosfluh and Bettmeralp is very busy with hikers during the day.
The Bettmerhorn Enduro Trail starts directly at Bettmerhorn mountain station, the highest point in the Aletsch Arena biking area. Tip before the drop-in: it’s five minutes to the viewing platform – glacier views at their finest.
Then you’re off: steep, rocky, wild – straight over the ski slope towards Hohbalm. Continue straight ahead on the ridge path as far as the Biel turn-off. There you take a left and head down the Aletsch slope to Lake Bettmersee and finally into the village of Bettmeralp.
The culture trail begins below Bettmeralp – a steep, historic footpath with stone reinforcements (‘pickinis’), narrow and challenging. Here, if not before, your chosen line is make or break. After Betten, the Bettmerhorn Enduro Trail calms down: the trail remains rocky, but more flowing, until you reach asphalt just outside Mörel. From there, the cable car takes you back up – ready for the next ride on one of the Aletsch Enduro Trails.
Highlights:
- Start at 2,647m overlooking the glacier
- Lines over rock slabs and historic paths
- Trail can be combined with the Martisberg Trail
- Descent over three types of terrain: high alpine – plateau – mountainside
Trail signposting: Follow the red signposts with the white biker symbol and the black sticker with the abbreviation BET – this stands for Bettmerhorn Enduro Trail.
Please note: At the start of the trail and when transitioning between different difficulty levels, the difficulty level of the next section is displayed.
Important: Respect for hikers and nature in the Aletsch Arena – ride with a generous attitude.
